For the illustrations we created relations between passages of the book and 16th century alchemical emblems. The symbolic tone of the story is reinforced by these images that are allegories in themselves. Originally single ink etchings, we coloured them again in black and a dark gold tone which we also used on the fold belt that wraps the book.
